A New Way Of Learning
Continuing Education from SurfingNASH.com
Podcasts are quickly becoming a powerful medium for continuing education and medical thought leadership. Through a unique partnership with a fully-accredited organizations these podcasts have been CMEfied. Listeners have an opportunity to earn credit for reflecting on relevant “nudges” presented via the link in the episode notes. Those nudges are critical learning areas for healthcare professionals and are meant to spark critical thinking. Category four and Category five credits are available based on the nudges and the responses by the individual. There is no fee to the user for these credits. Keep checking back for more content as the curriculum increases.
When you enroll in a SurfingNASH.com Continuing Education podcast, you should notice two differences from more typical CE:
Education via Podcast
Most CE is carefully scripted and reviewed for content. Podcast listeners have told us that while the traditional approach may be an excellent way to deliver information, they learn more from the interactive format and more free-flowing discussions embodied in a podcast. We have designed our CE podcasts with this feedback in mind.
How you will earn CE credit
In most CE, listeners are awarded Category 1 credits after completing a questionnaire that tests knowledge of key facts covered in the learning portion of the exercise. In contrast, this podcast has been CMEfied. Our goal here is to help listeners integrate information in a way that might change how you assess issues or treat patients. Listeners have an opportunity to earn credit for reflecting on relevant questions (called “nudges”) presented via a link in the episode notes. The question technique we are employing here, the “nudge”, comes from Behavioral Economics. It relies on a special kind of nudge question to encourage listeners to consider what you have heard in the context of your work with patients. The initial developer of this technique, Prof. Richard Thaler, won a Nobel Prize in Economics for his contributions to the field of Behavioral Economics, the idea of “nudge” being among his best-known contributions.
